Is WheelMates out?
Yes. WheelMates released on Steam on September 1, 2026 (moved forward from the original September 7 date). It is PC only for now; PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch versions are planned for the first half of 2027.
How much does WheelMates cost?
$19.99 USD, 15.99 GBP or 19.99 EUR before the 10% launch discount that runs until September 15, 2026. Only one copy is needed for two players thanks to Friend's Pass. The Supporter Pack cosmetic DLC is $4.99.
Can you play WheelMates solo?
No. Firevolt has said WheelMates is strictly two-player with no plans for a solo mode or for more than two players. The Steam thread asking for single-player is the busiest one on the forum, and the answer has not changed.
How long is WheelMates?
About 6 hours for the main story and about 8 hours if you chase every secret, collectible and mini-game, according to Firevolt's launch FAQ. A launch-day review pair finished in about 7.5 hours without collecting everything.
Is it WheelMates or Wheel Mates?
The official spelling is one word, WheelMates, and the Steam app is WheelMates by Firevolt. 'Wheel mates' and 'wheelmate' get you the same game in search; 'WheelMate' on its own is also the name of an unrelated wheel-alignment tool, so add 'game' if you are searching for the RC game.
Is WheelMates like It Takes Two?
That is the comparison every reviewer reaches for: mandatory two-player co-op, a free Friend's Pass, and a house where everyday objects become the level. The difference is that both players drive RC cars with the same abilities, so there are no asymmetric character roles, and the whole game is about driving.
Does WheelMates have split-screen?
Yes. Local split-screen co-op was added for the May 2026 demo and is in the full game; both players can use controllers on one PC. Online co-op with Friend's Pass is the other option. See the co-op setup guide.
Is WheelMates cross-platform?
Not yet. Only the Steam version exists. Firevolt said in the launch FAQ thread that Friend's Pass is planned for consoles and that they will do their best to support crossplay between console and Steam players when the console versions arrive in H1 2027.
Is WheelMates on Game Pass?
No. There is no Xbox version yet and no Game Pass announcement; the Xbox Series X|S release is planned for H1 2027.
Is there a WheelMates demo?
Not any more. The public demo (Kitchen and Garage) ran from May 6 to August 3, 2026. The Friend's Pass app on Steam replaced it: it is free, but it only lets you join a friend who owns the full game.
Is WheelMates on Steam Deck?
Firevolt says yes and added Deck support during the June demo update, but Valve has not rated it yet (Steam shows 'Unknown'). Demo players noted the Play Local option is hidden on Deck unless you add SteamDeck=0 %command% to the launch options.
Is there a WheelMates Discord or subreddit?
Yes to both. The official Discord invite is discord.com/invite/wheelmates (the developers answered the Aug 20 Q&A there and it is where most partner-finding happens). The subreddit is r/WheelMates.
Who made WheelMates and what engine is it?
Firevolt, a studio whose first game this is; the official site is wheelmatesgame.com. The crash dialogs and the install folder (RC Together/CarGame) point to Unreal Engine, and DLSS is supported.
Who voices Professor Bloom?
Firevolt has not published a voice cast, and the Steam page only lists English as the full-audio language. We will add the credit when it is confirmed.
Does the Friend's Pass player get achievements?
No. Firevolt confirmed on September 1 that only the owner of the game earns achievements; the Friend's Pass edition does not unlock them.
Is WheelMates on mobile or Android?
No. There is no mobile, APK or Android version of WheelMates and none has been announced. Anything offering a WheelMates APK is not the game.
