WheelMates Garage Walkthrough: Pumps, Crane and Magnet
Source note: the Garage was the second level of the public demo (May 6 to August 3, 2026), so this page is built from demo footage of two pairs, Firevolt’s demo notes and the launch-week Steam reports about the magnet section. The release build changed handling and some puzzle details (“minor puzzle updates” in the May 8 patch), so treat step order as a guide, not a script.
What the Garage is
Firevolt’s own description: a big, weird, open space full of hidden paths. It is the first level with side rooms you cannot enter until you own the Magnetic Grabber, and the professor already told you in the Hallway that a magnet part would send you back. The gadget is found inside this level (34.2% of owners had it on Sept 2 versus 18.6% who had finished the Garage).
1. Two handles and the first jump
The entry corridor ends at two handles: both cars latch with the Grapple and pull. That opens the cupboard route down. There is a checkpoint at the drop.
2. BH-19 again and the gold electrons
The green BH-19 sludge from the Kitchen is here too; the professor repeats the rule: stay above it. The yellow orbs are Neuro-Cores; a pair of green buttons on the left is a sync press, and one nearby stays red until you have the magnet (players who tried everything in the demo confirmed it).
3. The quantum replicator: free batteries
A node introduces the quantum replicator, a four-sector power core that exists “everywhere simultaneously”: take a battery and another appears. Batteries are the Garage’s currency. Carry them to the sockets (the objective points at the main ones; there are also secret sockets that open side paths). If a battery vanishes when you place it, take another; the replicator is free.
4. Power up the first pump, then the second and third
The most-searched Garage phrase is “power up the first pump” and it is the level’s spine: three pumps, each needs power and a lever. The waste-fuel spills are just spills; the leaking pumps are the story. After the third pump one demo pair reported being stuck on a loading screen; the release build has a hotfix history, so if the level does not advance, restart the game before restarting the level.
5. The crane and the pickup truck
The centrepiece is a two-station machine. One console owns forward and back, the other owns up and down. Nothing happens if you mash one console; the piece on the magnet has to be lowered onto the matching piece on the other side, then pulled, then set down. Call out “up”, “down”, “stop” and do nothing between calls. The parts end up in the bed of the pickup truck.
6. The big fan and the drawer
A wall fan opens a route once you find the button and the ramp switch. A drawer opens later; “drawer last” was the demo pairs’ rule, because the item inside needs the magnet.
7. The Magnetic Grabber
The gadget is picked up in the Garage’s back half. It is a toggle (press to grab, press to release), it lifts covers and carries objects, and it works on things that are not metal. Go back and press the red button from step 2, then take the drawer item.
8. The acid bath with two cogs
The first magnet puzzle: two cogs must be lifted from around an acid bath and placed. Warning: as of Sept 2, 2026 the cogs do not respawn. Two separate Steam reports describe one cog going out of reach past the steam trap and the other being dropped in the acid on purpose to force a respawn; both cogs were then gone, the steam trap and the doors behind it stayed locked, and quitting and reloading did not bring them back. Firevolt replied the same day: “We’re aware of it and already working on a fix.” Until the patch, carry one cog at a time, keep the magnet on until the cog is over solid ground, and do not test the acid.
9. Finish
Complete the last sync and the Garage achievement unlocks. Take the Magnetic Grabber back to the Kitchen’s blue magnet symbol and the Hallway’s magnet part if you want the collectibles there, then head for the Neuro-Void keypad, which is where the magnet is needed next. See the levels page for what is known about the late levels.
Thanks for the feedback!
